Psychadelic Integration Therapy

If you came to this page looking for psychedelics, I hate to tell you, you’ve come to the wrong place. I do not give (or have!) drugs. What I do have is an understanding about how they work and how to help you integrate any experiences you’ve had into your life.

A Brief History of Psychedelic Use

Psychedelic plants have been used as sacramental tools and for medicinal purposes by non-Western cultures for thousands of years. Dr. Albert Hoffman first discovered the psychoactive effect of LSD in the 1940’s, when he accidentally absorbed the compound he had created as a potential medicine. Over the next several years, the drug was distributed to psychotherapists to use for themselves, to help better understand the experience of being psychotic. Later it was found to actually be a useful tool for psychotherapy itself, as someone under the influence of LSD was able to recall repressed memories and experience a different type of relationship to those memories with a safe distance and significant clarity. In the 1960’s, it was hypothesized that deep levels of intoxication was akin to a mystical or spiritual experience, and more studies were done. Eventually, LSD was made illegal and many therapists turned to using MDMA to assist the psychotherapeutic process. Eventually MDMA was made illegal, and psychotherapists again went on the hunt to find drugs that could assist their clients to deal with their traumas (and meet other parts of their consciousness).

How Therapy Can Help

Present day, many people are taking psychoactive drugs recreationally and/or ceremoniously. Perhaps you have caught wind of the potential psychiatric benefits. While these drugs are still illegal in most cases (an exception being ketamine), many of you are still finding ways to use these drugs and meet other parts of yourself. The problem is that often this is done without then having the full opportunity to integrate your profound experiences into something more long-lasting. While I have nothing to do with the acquisition of or distribution of any drug, I strongly believe you need a way to understand your experience after the fact. Given my unique perspective into the lives of all of my clients, I am able to help you integrate you experiences in a way that offers long-lasting therapeutic effects in a nonjudgemental environment.

Things To Consider

As previously stated, I am not here to help you acquire drugs, nor do I encourage the use of illegal substances. That being said, I am knowledgable in this area and believe it is important for anyone who chooses to take drugs such as LSD, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), MDMA or ketamine to have an opportunity to integrate their experience into the greater Self. Despite having potential mental health benefits, these drugs can be dangerous and misused, and I strongly believe it is important to speak with a therapist before thinking about delving into this world, as well as after for those of you who already have.
