Supervision
I believe that any great therapist was born, at least in part, out of a great supervisor.
“Why go with me as your supervisor?”
I have been in private practice for over a decade, and have seen a lot—clinically and professionally. I believe it takes more than being smart to be a good therapist. I have seen amazing therapists who are horrible at running a practice. I have seen amazing business people who are horrible therapists. My goal is to contribute to the field in many ways, above and beyond working with clients. As it relates to you, I want to help contribute to the field by helping you be the best therapist you can be. I have a unique take on what the client/therapist relationship can have the potential to look like, and believe that often times therapists (especially those newer Ito the field) get too stuck on “but in grad school I learned this” and as a result, a lot of potential for transformation or opportunity is lost.
As your supervisor, I will hear and honor any goals you have for yourself, and we will work together to identify areas that might need to be strengthened. I will treat you with respect, and always strive to create an environment that feels safe to take risks.
I am currently enrolled in a 45-hour advanced clinical supervisor course through the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, as I take everything I do—including supervising other clinicians—very seriously, and always want to do my best by you, by your clients as an extension of the work we do together, and by the field, at large. At the end of this course, I will apply for my Advanced Clinical Supervision (ACS) credential.
